I don’t even really like roguelikes and I don’t like Poker. And now I’m seeing Jokers in my dreams.

Not a car guy or a racing game lover.
GT7 on tv: 7/10, pretty fun, good graphics
GT7 in VR: 9.5/10, easily the best racing game I’ve played, best VR game and one of the best gaming experiences in general. Showing people is an absolute treat and there seems to be little chance for VR sickness.
Can’t give it a perfect 10 because the inclusion of microtransactions means it would take 1200 hours, at the very least, to get every car in the game, which is absurd because getting new cars is the motivator.

Predecessor to the Jedi Survivor games. Hack and slash gameplay is fun for a while but gets repetitive, and the objectives and boss battles are all too simple.

Feels like a fan-made Flash game. Glad I had Supersonic Warriors as a kid.

Captured everyone’s attention during Covid. And I’ve played off and on since.
Ingenious format that is accessible and engaging, and the 1-a-day kept it alluring way more than expected.

Don’t remember much about the story but the gameplay was good - I played the survival style mode that pitted you against helis and juggernauts a ton.

Unremarkable, had enough going for it to get me to finish the story. Difficulty is turned down to 0 this generation.

Everyone should keep their Wiis just for this. Switch missed a huge casual party option like Wii Sports.

An inspired GTA-like, but a bit of Jack of Trades. An adequate storyline, so-so driving, where it excelled was the martial arts combat. Nowadays you can play more deep fighting games like Sifu if you are looking for that style, but at the time it was the best melee combat system for an open world game. Loved a fresh location that wasn’t American too.

My favourite GTA. Feels weird to say that such a huge blockbuster of a game can be underrated, yet people usually prefer San Andreas or V.

What it does right: The story. A bitter, introspective, satirical tale of an immigrant trying to achieve the American Dream but falling back into his ways after a life of war and violence. There are a ton of memorable characters and missions like the bank heist yet I actually prefer the early, more grounded missions.
The driving. Some people thought it felt too slidey like you’re on ice. I thought it was the best driving depiction I’d seen. You could pit manoeuvre cars, and spinning out more easily really made you feel like you were going a high speed. V’s driving feels a touch more tight and arcadey in comparison.
Grey and sepia filters and impressive lighting do a lot for making the graphics look great for the time.
Online was simple and fighting others a bit janky, but fun was to be had driving around with friends or fighting at the airport.
Ahead of its time, a step up narratively from San Andreas, beautiful game.

Really great game for 2006 and DS, but the “New” sequels that followed became stagnant, too easy and the most generic Mario games out there. This one was also on the easy side, but still provided enough of a challenge to be enjoyable.
Fun mini games, the new power ups were ok.
Felt like a soft reboot of the original Super Mario.

2016

Really successful reboot of the grandfather of the FPS genre, not much else to say.

Looks and sounds gorgeous! And of course it is incredibly hard but it was equally satisfying to beat.

This game has a ton of charm and love put into it.

Another good concept for a spin-off, in the DS era Pokémon was branching out. I like the artstyle and sprites, but catching legendaries was annoying in practice.
