oof, I've been meaning to try Revenant Wings, is it really that dire

the game very nearly abandons ivalice as a setting, and very few of the characters from the original are featured as anything more than minor characters. the story and feel of the game is much more like tactics advance (which is totally fine) so it's pretty sapped of any intrigue or sweeping political narrative. the combat is actually simulated ok, RTSes can totally work on something like the ds, but it's way too idle and unengaging to make total use of what it's trying to do. it's just a pretty unremarkable game with some fairly decent set pieces and visuals imo

shame! although going in knowing all that I might be in better shape than having expectations

i could see how someone could enjoy it, just wasn't what i was looking for in a potential sequel at all
