All of the demos I remember playing from best to worst

Collection of all of the demos I remember playing, along with some brief notes about the experience.

Everything above "Order Land" was a positive experience,
everything below was a negative one.

YEAH

(I knew from minutes of playing the demo that the game was extremely special. I treasure every moment I had with this game)
yeah!!

(I got the game immediately and had a great time)
yeah!!

(it didn't take much for me to know I wanted to play this game all the way through when it finally came out. I played the game all the way through when it came out the following year. 70+ hours)
yeah!!

(i really, really enjoyed it. also, getting to submit feedback for a game this big felt cool)
yeah!!

(oh man, I want to play this. it's happening)
yeah!!

(i think i put like 12 hours into this!?)
yeah!!

(holy shit i got really into the online playtests. more hours than the entirety of Kentucky Route Zero. lol)
yeah!

(this was so much fun. it was a long demo, and i was happy enough to not go get the game)
yeah!

(game was absolutely my jam, went from demo to playing it to exploring out of bounds, all great fun)
yeah!

(bump combat is a totally new playstyle to me, and i love the halfway point between RPG and hack-n-slash type gameplay. I hope the game fleshes itself out more!)
yeah!

(i actually helped playtest this one. ended up getting the full game when it came out the following year, and had a generally good time)
yeah!

(not out yet, but still interested)
yeah!

(actually a had lot of fun, but never got the game)
yeah!

(backed it on kickstarter!)
yeah!

(aw yea)
yeah!

(i ended up getting splatoon 3, and then not playing it much. but splatoon online is fun!)
yeah!

(I ended up getting the game when it came out and had a good time)
yeah!

(i loved it, why haven't i bought the game yet?)
yeah!

(it was a pretty long demo for me because it was hard! but i was really into trying out metroidvanias, and remember it felt fun!)
yeah!

(i only remember that it was really cool and fun)
yeah?

(i was happy i tried it, but i didn't see myself ever wanting to play more)
yeah?

(i had fun speedrunning the demo... yeah i guess the gameplay was sort of fun)
yeah?

(honestly, if I was ever going to get into tactical RPGs, this might be how)
yeah?

(tried to break the physics in this on a summer day in '08... got it off the DS Download Service thing in the Wii Channel)
yeah?

(i mean who doesn't like some picross!)
yeah?

(interesting, i guess? i've had too many bad experiences with tactical RPGs, so I passed)
yeah?

(my heart needed a nice golf game after the Sports Story dream died)
yeah?

(i remember thinking the movement was a bit weird, but i loved the low poly style)
yeah?

(i guess it was fun? i know what it is, but nothing about it felt really remarkable)
yeah

(don't know what it is, i've just never felt interested in pikmin)
yeah

(i don't really remember what made this so fun for me as a kid)
?

(i'm surprised this is even on IGDB. very basic JRPG navigated entirely through menus. i played it with a friend who could translate)
nah

(eh. warriors-type games are just not my thing i think)
nah

(lame. the online playtest was a bit of fun, though)
nah

(i just remember that it was a very plain feeling fighting RPG)
nah

(looking back, its actually kind of a sick game graphically, but the gameplay was so bad)
nah

("Hmm, I tried the Live-A-Live demo a couple weeks ago and decided to start with [the ninja's] story. It wasn't very fun at all, but now I'm thinking maybe it was just a bad place to start? Should I give it another go with a different era?"

nah

(so slow and boring)
nah...

(boooooooring)
nah...

(i only remember not liking it... sorry)

I'm very close to buying inscription. I remember playing the demo a while ago, would you say it's worth 20 or should I wait for a sale?

@Dalf personally, I'd say the demo has the biggest "wow" factor, but the game goes to other interesting places, it just doesn't feel quite as on-par with Leshy's portion of the game. when i got it, it was on release sale for $18, so i went for it and don't regret it. I am personally interested in deck-builders (like Slay the Spire) and enjoyed Pony Island, so my expectations were set, but I'd say I was overall impressed by it and think its a very relevant game even now in 2024

I'll pick it up soon then!
