All of the demos I remember playing from best to worst

Collection of all of the demos I remember playing, along with some brief notes about the experience.

Everything above "Order Land" was a positive experience,
everything below was a negative one.

yeah!!

(i think i put like 12 hours into this!?)
yeah!!

(absolutely love that this weird game demo eventually became a huge hit. totally deserved)
yeah!!

(I got the game immediately and had a great time)
yeah

(don't know what it is, i've just never felt interested in pikmin)
yeah!!

(it didn't take much for me to know I wanted to play this game all the way through when it finally came out. I played the game all the way through when it came out the following year. 70+ hours)
yeah!

(not out yet, but still interested)
YEAH

(I knew from minutes of playing the demo that the game was extremely special. I treasure every moment I had with this game)
nah

("Hmm, I tried the Live-A-Live demo a couple weeks ago and decided to start with [the ninja's] story. It wasn't very fun at all, but now I'm thinking maybe it was just a bad place to start? Should I give it another go with a different era?"

yeah!

(i liked the platforming and the puzzling, and just analgesic games in general. ended up getting the game and having an okay time with)
yeah?

(interesting, i guess? i've had too many bad experiences with tactical RPGs, so I passed)
yeah!!

(oh man, I want to play this. it's happening)
yeah?

(honestly, if I was ever going to get into tactical RPGs, this might be how)
yeah!

(game was absolutely my jam, went from demo to playing it to exploring out of bounds, all great fun)
yeah!

(i ended up getting splatoon 3, and then not playing it much. but splatoon online is fun!)
yeah!

(aw yea)
yeah?

(this game felt somewhat like a chore, but also was just too cool... i need to revisit and reconsider when it's fully released)
yeah

(i don't really remember what made this so fun for me as a kid)
yeah!

(i only remember that it was really cool and fun)
yeah!

(this game has awesome movement feel. it's a first-person 3D platformer, something I didn't know I needed)
nah...

(i only remember not liking it... sorry)

- - current bottom of list, if anything is below this it is in error - -
nah

(so slow and boring)
yeah?

(i mean who doesn't like some picross!)
yeah!

(actually a had lot of fun, but never got the game)
yeah!!

(i really, really enjoyed it. also, getting to submit feedback for a game this big felt cool)
nah

(eh. warriors-type games are just not my thing i think)
yeah!

(this was so much fun. it was a long demo, and i was happy enough to not go get the game)
yeah!

(i actually helped playtest this one. ended up getting the full game when it came out the following year, and had a generally good time)
yeah!

(i loved it, why haven't i bought the game yet?)
yeah?

(my heart needed a nice golf game after the Sports Story dream died)
yeah!

(very interesting mechanics... the rogue-like section actually felt like it had some huge potential to be addictingly good)
yeah?

(i think it was fun, but also felt like a bloated version of botw. i preferred the opposite in Sable)
yeah!

(it was a pretty long demo for me because it was hard! but i was really into trying out metroidvanias, and remember it felt fun!)
yeah?

(i had fun speedrunning the demo... yeah i guess the gameplay was sort of fun)
yeah!!

(holy shit i got really into the online playtests. more hours than the entirety of Kentucky Route Zero. lol)
yeah!

(backed it on kickstarter!)
yeah?

(i was happy i tried it, but i didn't see myself ever wanting to play more)
yeah?

(tried to break the physics in this on a summer day in '08... got it off the DS Download Service thing in the Wii Channel)
yeah!

(I ended up getting the game when it came out and had a good time)
nah

(lame. the online playtest was a bit of fun, though)
nah

(i just remember that it was a very plain feeling fighting RPG)
nah...

(boooooooring)
yeah?

(i remember thinking the movement was a bit weird, but i loved the low poly style)
yeah?

(i guess it was fun? i know what it is, but nothing about it felt really remarkable)
nah

(looking back, its actually kind of a sick game graphically, but the gameplay was so bad)
yeah!

(it was a weird time, but it was a good time)
yeah!

(bump combat is a totally new playstyle to me, and i love the halfway point between RPG and hack-n-slash type gameplay. I hope the game fleshes itself out more!)
yeah

(i had fun, but it's just not a game i see myself wanting to invest a lot of time in)
nah

(i didn't play a whole lot of this demo, but that's mainly because the game felt so unfinished and unpolished. i'm not sure how early into development this game is, but at the moment it's not something i find that interesting)
?

(i'm surprised this is even on IGDB. very basic JRPG navigated entirely through menus. i played it with a friend who could translate)
yeah!

(already was going to get this, but now i'm just more excited! i would like for the option to find words on your own so the environment is still "explorable", and the windows can be a bit cluttered compared to the simplicity of the original. but hey, that's what demos are for!)

I'm very close to buying inscription. I remember playing the demo a while ago, would you say it's worth 20 or should I wait for a sale?

@Dalf personally, I'd say the demo has the biggest "wow" factor, but the game goes to other interesting places, it just doesn't feel quite as on-par with Leshy's portion of the game. when i got it, it was on release sale for $18, so i went for it and don't regret it. I am personally interested in deck-builders (like Slay the Spire) and enjoyed Pony Island, so my expectations were set, but I'd say I was overall impressed by it and think its a very relevant game even now in 2024

I'll pick it up soon then!
