Despite having one of my all-time favorite monster rosters, this game was unfinished on release. For whatever reason, that absolutely killed any passion I had for it at the time, and I'm still pretty peeved in that regard.
Sunbreak adds quite a lot to Rise, a game I considered criminally devoid of content in the first place, including some of my all-time favorite monsters. Still, it's just not enough to make up for the disappointment Rise turned out to be.
It's just more, better Splatoon! Same fun stories, same fun gameplay, same wacky style, with a fantastically fresh coat of paint; what more could you ask for?
As a first foray into the Metroid franchise, this maybe wasn't my best choice. It failed to grab me in any meaningful way, and I was often more confused than I'd like to be; still, the polish behind it is clear, and when it shines, it REALLY shines.
I quite like this game, but it could never have lived up to the sheer amount of hype it got. Good atmosphere, fun story, and a solid- if muddled -message.
