I gave Ribbit King a shot when a friend was over and loved it! We only played one round though because he wasn't such a big fan unfortunately : (

Thanks for reminding me to get back to Xanadu Next, I played about an hour last year but put it down for some reason. It's definitely on the docket for more Falcom titles

where do you recommend jumping in for non-pokemon mystery dungeon titles? playing dq recently makes me wanna try the torneko ones, but I've seen you hype up shiren 2 a lot

@pangburn: if you've played any of those pokemon mystery dungeons then you likely have a pretty good idea of what these games are like, but i would still totally recommend playing at least some of the first torneko. it's a bit simpler and more directly derivative of the original rogue than some of these later games, like shiren 2 with its castle-building element — or torneko 2, which is substantially more complex than the first game (to the extent that i think i liked 1 a bit more). nightmare of druaga is a really good one, too. one of the best is probably shiren 5: the tower of fortune and the dice of fate, and i'm really looking forward to playing the dreamcast spinoff featuring a character from shiren 2 once the translation is complete. there are tons of these and i don't really consider myself an expert, but i can wholeheartedly recommend those.

I've played both of the first two PMD games back when I was a kid (most of them anyway) so that's good to hear that it's more or less the same idea for the others. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the original torneko MD on sfc because I was tempted to start with that but was worried it would throw me off too much, so I'll go ahead and start with that one then, once I finish dq4 anyway. thank you for the advice! and I'm looking forward to diving into the shiren series after that

Saga Frontier has been on my radar for a while! Keep trying to make up my mind on whether I wanna bother buying a physical PS1 copy or play the remaster which I heard added some stuff.

Front Misson 3 and Brigandine too! I have a friend who bangs on about the latter so much I'm shocked I didn't buy it before the price went up....
