top 25 games, with notes

In the summer of 2021 I played through Full Metal Daemon Muramasa and I never could have foreseen that it would scramble my brain again the same way that tsukihime did a decade ago. the greatest game ever made.
after a decade of waiting they really did it. they really released mahoyo in english. sometimes dreams really do come true if you wait and believe.
If I were a slightly more deranged and less socially understanding person I would tell people to play this and skip all the fucking because it is truly an incredible game. Instead, because I am a vastly more deranged person I think you should play it and sit through all the fucking because there is no other experience like this.
one of my greatest mistakes was thinking that this game was "overhyped" and couldn't possibly be as good as people said it was and now I think I would say no one actually did it justice in how good it really is.
much like the house in fata morgana upon the first look I had at signalis I thought it was just another retro throwback pixel art game and I couldn't have been more wrong, we need more games like this, confident in being absolutely fucking weird and mature in ways most games just simply do not achieve
I think this is one of the most fun, funny & well made games I have played. Also a game for insane perverts only.
the year is 2010. I am in the 9th grade and my friends online keep talking about this game because "its just pictures and words but its really good" so I decide to try it and my brain is absolutely scrambled forever
I tried to think of something to say about this but I really don't have enough space here. if you like robots you need to play it. you should also play it if you like good games
I first played this on a PS3 when it first came out and despite all the slowdown and bullshit this is still the best armored core
there is nothing more incredible than games where their ambitions vastly outstrip all circumstances of their development. Xenogears is maybe the epitome of this. I ended up playing Xenogears in my senior year of highschool on a Playstation Vita while ditching my 5th period PE Class (I have no idea how I graduated) and the thing that sticks with me the most is the game has cinematic ambitions that outstrip even your final fantasies or the biggest budget games you can think of, it's just truly stunning to experience
I played this when I was 13 and it pretty much broke my brain to have to think about the idea that one day I and everyone else will die. it also made me very aware how much I like robot girls
I cried many times while playing Dragon Quest V and it made me want to be a better person
Metal Gear Solid 2 is the best one. I actually bought a PS2 in high school and a copy of MGS2 just to play this and I was so taken in by it that what I thought should take weeks took three days
I picked up dragons dogma when it first came out, I started this game up like 5 times, about once every year, got 10 hours in and went "I don't get it". finally years later around 2016 I kept going and it was like the angels descended from the heavens and I understood, this is one of the greatest rpgs ever made. Hideaki Itsuno has never missed
Timeless. they simply don't make them like this anymore. completely drew me in for two whole weeks in 2018 to the point it was all I did other than eat, sleep, & go to work
I think that many people have overlooked this game because it doesn't look like the other xenoblades and its on the wii u but it is one of the best games ever made. this is what the wii u was made for
this was the game that made me realize that I don't really like fire emblem as a series because this one is so much better than 90% of them
the ultimate in true idiot gaming

19

you just gotta play it man
Bulk Slash is the game that made me fall in love with the Sega Saturn. there are a few other games like it but it is special to me in its uniqueness for its time and how much joy it has brought me to own my own copy of this game
honestly I feel like a bit of a tool taking so long to play this game it really is incredible
I think somehow sekiro is still underappreciated by most who don't really see the ways in which this takes a lot of things from software had been doing to the next level
sometimes you run into a game that you expect nothing out of and you get more than you ever imagined out of it
for a long time in my head I have held an ideal jrpg I would like to make, as I thought it did not exist, and then it turns out that game is Star Ocean 2 and I simply did not know
this is not the best megaman game but I think its the one that's the most important to me.
