swapping out the orchestra for a horn section every now and then was a really good idea, but loses some of the charm that galaxy specifically has. still a fantastic soundtrack, though

it's a good soundtrack, just marred by questionable sound design in-game. overall it's not quite as strong as the other 3d games but koji kondo's tracks are some of his absolute finest

play this on a classical guitar and it instantly becomes the best one

hirokazu tanaka and koji kondo contrast themselves really well

soyo oka brings some of the most faithful kondo-like compositions, some of the most sentimental arrangements... and some of the worst interpretations of the mario soundtracks. lots of highs and lows

a lot of broad strokes with not much elaboration. kondo is usually a bit of a minimalist, but i kind of wish we'd seen the map themes developed further

Thank you!! I listened to it and the Yoshi's Island ending theme on my way back from one of the most important days of my life... those two pieces of music mean so much to me.
That's really cool! I think Mario 64 was the first game I've ever finished so listening to the ending theme for the first time was a memory that always really stuck with me, and it just has a really nice melody to it. The Yoshi's Island ending theme is also really nice.
