It's like nintendo made a link to the past again but with modern elements, but here instead they tried a different approach, yea you can have all the items from the beginning but every dungeon is built around one item, so while some bosses will be easier, the dungeon's design itself are magnificent, the dungeun item will be used in every possible way, that's an amazing idea. They also added clever twists to alttp dungeons like the hand that you now use to your advantage and so on.

Lorule is also fascinating, it ads a sentiment of something oddly familiar to the player, and yet so different. The designs around flipping back and fort between worlds is very clever and makes for some great puzzle solving.

Overal a must play, even has some nice ending to it's credit.

It's a better game overall, well polished, but the first one had a better narrative to it, nevertheless a good puzzle platform, just a bummer that the best abilities were only available for the last 5 minutes of the game

A mysterious narrative in a game full of interesting puzzles make`s for a great start for the series

As someone who had only played Super Metroid for the first time last year beeing a fan of the genre, it was surprising to see how well it still stands, and how good of a game it still is, so when i started this game i was not surprised to see that same sentiment here.

For me Samus Returns maintains the same feeling of playing Super Metroid, a genre defining game, but updated with modern metroidvania perks, and that makes for a great game.

For starters, as in Super Metroid, every part of the level is really there for a reason, you'll get trapped everytime you get a new power, but you'll use it to get away and fell so damn cool every single time you are more powerful, and this goes upgrade after upgrade, level after level, it's just perfection in the system.

The quality of life improvements are all over the place, from teleporters, to hints to where is the next metroid, to the excellent map and pin system, allowing you to see where you going and pin different colors on the map to know which new power up will allow you to go back to that place.

It's just a blast to play it, such a shame that it came out on the end of the 3ds life cycle, i hope more people can play this and see how great of a remake this is, one of the best metroidvanias ever made.

Also! the ending was so unexpected cool, maybe not everything is evil just because you don't know it, what a nice touch

The first thing that comes to my mind when thinking about a hat in time is "Why did it take me so long to play it??"

A Hat in Time is a homage to old 3d platformers, but that ends here, because it is it's own game, while it does seek inspiration from older titles like Mario Sunshine it implements it way diferrent, it implements it a hat in time's way.

For me the most important thing in a platformer is the controls and how freely you can move, and here while the moveset is not as big as Mario's, the level design is made in such a way that you can fly through the levels combining habilites and hat, it is easy to play but it fells amazing to master the moveset.

Also this game has an brilliant set of characters, there are so many ideas, my favorite one are the birds and the murder mystery(!) chapter, the ideas are so damn good.

This mix of excellent movement, lovable characters, amazing loading screens and music makes for one of the best indie games and 3d platforms out there,it's not just a sunshine or banjo copy, it is just better than they.

First of all, the fact that this game is made by one person is impressive, the amount of work put into this is truly amazing.
The gameplay is great, the progression with the guns and tools fells good throughout the whole game, you can go back to prior areas and explore again like any metroidvania. In special i want to highlight the eletric wrench, it makes go through enviroments SO much better.
The downside is that the Perks system is kinda irrelevant, you don't have much reason to get more materials since you'll be ending up using only one perk.
The most surprsing for me was how deep the narrative went, how well thought were the caracters. They even had interesting critics about what can happen when people make lies about god entities just to pray on others, but in the end it goes TOO deep and gets confusing , also too many boss fights, fortuntelly there is a relaxed mode to blast through them.

In short : a great metroidvania with unique narrative for indie games, all made by ONE person, just go play it, this work deserve to be seen by more people.

Complete waste of the Crash ip, too few enemies and things are used of it, and as a game is a bad runner, you are bombarded with ads, your progress entirely rely on waiting for timers that kepps on getting bigger. even before you had time to have some fun

3d World follows the Galaxy track of more linear 3d Mario's, the levels itself set the ton of your gameplay that is unique for each level, but distinct from galaxy the power ups are a great factor here, you start the game in the cat suit, in fact most of the better parts of the game are centered around the cat suit.
3d world started slowly for me, but it was a pleasant surprise how most of the levels had an unique level design, the soundtrack is as always a blast, and the last playable character you unlock makes for the best gameplay mechanic, having air control is the seed for odyssey and made replaying the levels so much better, also captain toad! those levels are adorable, a nice change of tone.
Overall an excellent 3d Mario, while it may start slow and it may be more linear than others, as well as some anoyng things towards the end and with repetition, is just a safe bet, well executed and fun to play

Short and sweet game, it's liken Ben says, "it's a fun tiny life here"

A Gorgeus puzzle game, with tripping colors and shapes that makes the best of it's idea, through the game you'll be baffled with the environments while solving the puzzles.
The puzzles itself are well thought , you start with and small concept and expand upon it throughout the game , my favorite ones were the fluids one.
But, because the spaces were big, sometimes it would take a long time to just walk were you needed it to, and you can get lost pretty easily because of that as well, it lacks a form of a hint system, as other puzzles games also do.

Spelunky was a weird one for me, as someone who hadn't played a more classic roguelike, i had previously watched a lot of it on twitch and played my first roguelikes in Hades and Spire before deciding to pick it up.
The thing is, Spelunky 2 gameplay is great, the platforming here is impressive and rewards good play, you are constantly having to jump and use the space to your advantage, so in that way, was a nice fit.
But, this is still a rogulike, so if you die you will restart from the beginning, and that would be fine, however the first area is really hard, like the hardest in any game i've ever seen, and is not just "fair stuff", you can die for a million reasons, the rate of which the death was your fault is like 50/50.
With that in mind, is hard to move on in the game without going well at the beginning, you ended up without itens and dying again, so that is kinda frustating.
i'm shelving this, i made it through first boss and to stage 4, but i've had enough of going throw those moles and sandshrews again and again, for now, i'll say it's great gameplay, but is realy hard, so it's up to you to say.

Bowser's Fury was something that totally caught me of guard, as someone who was waiting since the launch of Odyssey for a DLC, this was what i wanted for so long.
It's Funny because it's a mashup of the open World of Odyssey, with 3d world thematic, and both of those things are expanded here.
The world is completely open, but is still very much a "map" structure, you can play freeely between the levels, but each one has distintc music, level design, enemys and so on, and once you finish one you're booted towards the next one, that's so clever.
Bowser's fury show us the future of Mario (i hope) a open game that doesn't boot you off after every star, that also gudies you torwards the next level, but let's you choose in which order you want to do, the music here is astounding, every litle pice has it's own care it's amazing, the power ups are well used, the platforming is great!
My minor complaints would be that it is indeed too short, give us the next 3d mario you cowards! But seriously, if it were bigger it would have more diversity in shinys that kinda repeat throughout the game, and the bowser mechanic is neat but overused, also no triple jump, why?
A gorgeous experience, recommend for everyone to give it a shoot sometime.

This is one of those cases of games that are so well made that even if you don't like it's genre or setting you should try it.
Control is an excellent game, placed in a mysterious place, with interesting narrative and characters, gorgeous ambient and sequences design .
Even for me as someone who does't like suspense or horror games, Control was just not scary enough to play, while maintaining the tense atmosphere.
Some of the best sequences in gaming, altogether with great acting and narrative makes for a great game

You know that game that has one idea only? But is really well made? That's Good Job, it's a neat little game where you solve puzzles to advanced in corporative environment, or you know, destroy everything because that's capitalism, still tho, pretty fun both ways.

There are plenty of good puzzle games out there, but with interesting characters and narrative, not so much, and Call of The Sea is one of them, the puzzles are intriguing, the crew is interesting, and the narrative is actually very well done, as well as astonishing visuals, it's the whole package.
