Games I've Beaten For The First Time 2022

From top to bottom is the order I played them throughout the year. Only ones I didn't include that I considered adding were Dusk, and Sonic Mania.
Will also add links to my reviews for the games I bothered making reviews for. May even add a comment or two as I look back on this year, so don't be surprised if I make some minor changes here or there.

I've beaten Dusk the first time last year, but grew to love it after playing the switch version. It was really eye opening, but I still didn't beat it the first time this year, so I at least wanted to give it a shout out.
And Sonic Mania was my first ever Sonic game I played, and despite trying to like it, I ended up dropping it. I really couldn't put my finger on why it didn't click for me and I really don't like leaving games unfinished, but I guess it just wasn't my cup of tea.

After a year I gotta say, the sequel just outclasses this game on every margin. It's still fine enough but I really don't think I'll play this one again.

Funny story: I was on track to get the secret ending with the special boss, and I screwed up at the last possible moment since I jumped the gun at fighting the final boss before doing a specific task that, in hindsight, they spell fairly clearly.

Beginning of the Pokemon redemption arc? Honestly hard to tell.

Wait, it was this year!? God my perception of time is messed up.

I really did complain about Kirby being too easy... I mean, it is admittedly a reason why I've been hesitant on playing this series since, personally, a really easy game can be extremely boring. And this game was on the edge of that being real, though I did ended up liking it. Don't know if I'd be interested in playing more Kirby though

That Bayonetta controversy was such a mess, but I still had a blast with this game and 3 too.

One thing to note: not a big fan of playing it on New Game plus. I feel a lot of the enjoyment is how you manage your limited time. So when you're replaying with all your social stats max, it makes the game feel kind of lethargic. Still love this game though and even replayed a lot of it on Switch recently

Reward for "Oh wait I did play that". I honestly thought it was fine, but yeah I completely forgot about it till I was looking back on Switch library.

So in this non-review I mentioned how I felt these kind of beat em ups just weren't my thing, and they aren't honestly, but after playing this I returned to a game I played last year: The Ninja Saviors. I actually enjoyed that game more the second go around, even upped it's rating. So perhaps it's not the genre that I have a problem with, but rather I may only like the less traditional beat em ups more.

Arguably the hardest game I beat this year. No I'm not kidding

Probably my least favorite I played this year. I appreciate what it's going for, but in retrospect I didn't really have that much fun

Technically I didn't beat all of this Quake port, but hopefully the main game plus two of it's DLCs is enough for this list.

Being honest I ain't too big on the review for this one. Feels like I'm saying "Every review is subjective, including this one", but if you already get that then it meanders a lot.

Even after playing Ghost 'n Goblins, my comment for Super Sami Roll still holds true.
