Games I wanna try and why

Idea from QuilDewIvy. Sorta ranked by the order I want to play in, and the games at the bottom are those I finished/had a good taste of.

Working on this one as of now. Seems to have take a psuedo-nihilistic stance on political beliefs and their impacts, but doesn't come off as entirely insincere. Even if it does end up as a recreation of online politicking, this will still be one of the funniest games I've ever played.

UPDATE: On pause, but what I played is one of the funniest and immersive experiences I've had this year.
Suda51 entry. Seems like a really fun and zany entry point. Kill the Past is a cool as heck franchise name.

UPDATE: Decided to start with The Silver Case instead. Planning to go TSC -> FSR -> Killer7 -> 25W -> NMH, and then stop.
Almost exactly the type of exploration, enemy/world/level design, and tone I adore. Tried it a bit, and it seems like a perfect candidate for when I re-enter a metroidvania mood in the future.
Have heard really cool things about the gameplay for this one! Does seem to split folks I know tho, so to balance it out I'll add SMTIV to this position as well.

UPDATE: Playing SMT5 now. It's pretty fun, but there are some issues with it that are building up. Seriously considering this to be my next big RPG fix (maybe with the Hardtype mod)
Fits the style of "Earthbound-inspired/stylized" RPGs that seem to be the only style of JRPGs that appeal to me. Oozes charm all over like it's no one's business.
Detention, while dry at points, was an effective little piece of horror crafted by a culture in a different time and place (Taiwanese Martial Law during the 1960's). Devotion seems to vast step up in most fronts.
Gorgeous use of lighting, and fits the weird niche of "first-person arthouse" that I've only seen explored by Doom WADs.
The Uncharted series has the "Indiana Jones with some heart" vibes I want to love, but has always gimped itself on a mechanical or story front. UC4 seems to address these.
I know a decent bit about Drakengard 1 and Nier Automata at this point via osmosis. What little I know of this seems vastly more interesting.
Seems to have the bizarre little "torture you while you have fun" vibes with a neat aesthetic
Insane I haven't played this yet
Housemarque seem like cool devs. Interesting arcadey action with lovely presentation and OST. Definitely expecting good stuff from this and potentially Returnal.
Hey new Resi
Been meaning to get into this series for a while now. Seems to have a charming story, and KH2FM's combat is gassed up and trashed down a lot. So who knows?
The Zachtronics game I haven't tried yet. Their non-puzzle games are endearing misses for the most part. MF83 seems comically overtuned against the player, which might make it more akin to a puzzle game than anything!
I'm not gonna get into photography any time soon, so I might as well simulate the vibes of what it can be about. Lovely aesthetic too!
Not entirely sure what this is all about, but it looks pretty neat and I've heard good things from folks I trust.
Takes a lot of the ideas from Pathologic 1, and presents them in a fascinating way. Feels like the kind of horror and stress I like, and apparently it shows in the gameplay as well!
Kind of a white whale as of now. I have no exposure to Final Fantasy, and I'm sure I'm missing out on more than a few charming titles. Currently dabbling in the FF6: Brave New World mod, but FF7 is the one that seems to nail characters and world.
I've orbited the GoW for a while, but this one seems to have the writing and gameplay chops to actually stand out. I know about the Atreus twist, but eh.
Two years ago, I started a mission to complete each Ys game on the hardest difficulty. I've done Ys 1/2/Origin/Oath, and then stopped.

Honestly tho, I'm only really interested in Ys VIII and IX at this point.
This seems like the perfect blend of sandbox and strategy I've been looking for. The kind of endearing fantasy insanity that feels like a playable version of all the large-scale wars the genre tends to adore.

Supergiant is a really cool studio. Just that, every game I've tried from them bores me despite displaying elegant writing chops. This does seem to stand out on most fronts, so it's higher on the list.
Haha rolle
I love the OST. I want to be waterboarded, and then tap out, and then check it out via an LP.
Pretty looks. Among the best looking games I've seen.
Ori 1 was interesting but a bit bland in terms of level design and actual testing of movement. This seems to be an overwhelming improvement.
Did some runs till Ascension 3. Seems exceptionally designed. Went back to play 3 matches of MtG:A and had way more fun, despite it being a categorically worse designed game. I'm not apologizing.

UPDATE: Played more of this, till Ascension 5. Can't say I'm too impressed as it plays out like an extremely gimped draft where each hero really railroads (heh) you a few very specific archetypes and you can somewhat flavor them with the allied clans. Will keep trying, but Limited formats and Slay the Spire impress me way more.
"Is AA an SGS franchise?"
"AA doesn't seem like an SGS series"
"Play DGS, and then stop"

Okay then!

UPDATE: Finished! It genuinely feels like I've finished the best work of someone without knowing what they've done before haha. Incredible overall experience. Strong colorful cast, lovely mystery-building, and the best orchestral score I've heard for a game.
I've surprisingly been out of the loop as to what this game is all about, and how much it matters to some people. Still high enough on my list, and seems like a gateway to the bizzaro world of RPG Maker games.

UPDATE: This impressed me way more than I expected. I played this after trying out Zelle (which was aight), and it was delightful. Feels like one of those rare gems that would have been an outstanding community experience in the early days of the internet, on top of being one of the most genuinely unnerving things I've played in a while. A surreal inner world and art museum. We need more like this.
I so badly wanna play this game, but it seems specifically made for the DS. That character design is excellent, and the gameplay seems delightful.

UPDATE: Decided to try this one out since NEO was coming up soon. Genuinely exciting stuff! Absolutely love the parallel processing required for the gameplay, and how every aspect of the game exudes a shonen stylized meditation on individuality and cooperation.

UPDATE 2: Wrote a review too! https://www.backloggd.com/u/SGS_Man/review/178569/

I love all the explanations, not matter how small, it's always cool to see thoughts verbalized like this. Keep it up!
