Summon Night: Swordcraft Story
Realized I should say why so: I love the aesthetic, which has steam-industrial shades, snappy, charming and witty dialogue appended to a story of intrigue, amazing character design for what I enjoy, lesbian representation. The gameplay is also pretty fun, if very exploitable, and the crafting system is addicting in its simplicity.
i haven't played swordcraft sorcery but i do think it looks very cool and i WANT to play it and it IS on my vita just waiting for me to choose it so maybe i will do that soon
Koudelka is an interesting choice, thanks for the rec
Thanks for the rec! Atelier has been on my radar for a while, though I only tried out Ryza for an hour or two (I should get back on it someday, as with many games), I do like the art style and one of my friends is obsessed with the games. Not something I can play right now, I am but a very broke lad money-wise right now, but it did make me realize I never added this or the other Atelier games I could buy to my wishlist. Makes me wonder what my other favorites would give for recs lol.
Kingdom Hearts
id probably say something like neon white or katamari or maybe mirrors edge. just looking for games w great movement and freedom of expression and dizzying speeds in 3d environments. katamari isnt that but its fun to pick up the things nd ive considered one of my favourites numerous times. i guess arcadey games like it wld fit too but im just looking for cool movement/speedrun games
@jeffbackloggd god i hope you haven’t played gravity rush
moon remix: rpg adventure? or no more heroes, if that's not too bothersome! this list in general is wonderful ^_^
@poyfuh no i havent! i never even considered these games they look interesting! thanks dude
@justmonika you have no idea how long i’ve been waiting to put chulip on here

omg this is so cool!!!!! but i wouldn't want to be the third person here that says mother 3 (although i'm always up for love-de-lic branches!!) so maybe SaGa Frontier? i've been super enamored with it recently
@Mewtsukki thank you for commenting here because in checking your profile to see whether you had live a live logged i saw that i wasn’t following you when i really thought that i already was lol

Final Fantasy VII
- Its gameplay is fast-paced and flashy, it manages to make turn-based not feel turn-based
- strong use of visual metaphor through imaginative sci-fi fantasy settings like Midgar and Gold Saucer and pretty much every place in the game is memorable in some way
- every character is also memorable or utilizes archetypes in an effective way with strong visual diversity (while tifa and aerith are my favorites, I love cloud, barret, cait sith, and red XIII for how distinctive they are visually compared to like any other rpg i've played). strong villains too! love all those freaks
- really solid pacing; i can replay the game over the course of like a week
- really, it lets you play as a cool girl who punches and suplexes giant monsters which is pretty much what i look for in virtually any game i play
(skipped over like 20 other things for the the sake of brevity but those are my superficial, surface level reasonings)

Professor Layton and Pandora's Box (or "PL and the Diabolic Box" in the USA)
Here are my reasons:
Storyline: Professor Layton and Pandora's Box features an intriguing and complex storyline filled with mystery, puzzles, and unexpected twists.
Puzzles: The game features a wide range of puzzles that require players to think creatively and logically to solve them or sometimes are just little joke-like puzzles. Also math problems are featured, which I also love.
Atmosphere: The game's beautiful hand-drawn art style, charming characters, and detailed environments create an immersive and whimsical atmosphere. Folsense is so lovely melancholic while the Molentary Express has it's cozy ambiece. Also trains are always a win in my books.
Memorable characters: Professor Layton and Luke, have become an iconic duo. Their witty dialogue, unique personalities, and deepening bond throughout the game are captivating. Also there are a lot of other memorable characters like Sammy who would rather be a rockstar than workin at his uncle's luxury train.
Mini-games: The mini-games are most likely the worst thing about this game, but still very good. I always liked the tea mini-game.
Emotional impact: The game explores themes of loss and denial creating an emotional connection that makes the game more impactful and memorable.
Intellectual stimulation: the puzzles require critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail, making it a mentally engaging.

game that's always on my mind right now is hypnospace outlaw. specifically how (in spite of its aesthetic) it meditates on very simple and unspectacular parts of people's lives - even when some larger event does happen, the focus is generally on the people's reactions to it rather than the event itself. it's got a very strong voice - almost disarmingly so - with a lot of things to say. it also does a thing i really like where it highlights the problems with a flawed system by having you act as a part of that system (part of what made a lot of armored core tick for me as well)
hope that all makes sense cause i kind of just vomited words on the screen for a bit. also this is really cool and big respect for keeping on doing it for so long!!

hello!
I think my favorite would be the silver case: the 25th ward? i like the clashing of art styles, the way it uses older music to convey a story of postmodern ideology, the multiple ways it handles transhumanism, the general cold and distant violence, the tackling of technology is inevitably changing our brains and we learning how to livr with it, and the navigation itself being stylized instead of just a way of getting to the stylish scenes. no pressure! this is a great idea and I hope you have fun picking our brains

@poyfuh i always had live a live on my backlog and for some unexplained reason i have not played it yet even though i absolutely vibe with everything it does and even saw my bf playing the last chapter and being wowed by the remake. i adored the rec and the text that came with it, definitely going to play it as soon as possible!!
also thank you for the follow too, i remember finding your through a MMX5 review i think? and being awed by how much i agreed and liked your writing so it's really flattering!

hell yeah hell yeah, i guess i should have mentioned that WKTD has four endings and is like maybe an hour long so, very breezy game too easy to flyyyyyyy through it
While I could never definitively settle on an absolute top of the bunch favorite game of all time, for the sake of the thing let's just say
The World Ends With You
Great game, love the style, the music, the experimental gameplay is great actually, characters are fun, and it just being the jrpg bullshit it is, also somethin I love (helps that being a DS title in its vein makes it very briskly paced, really does not out stay its welcome). Just a lovely game.

Flower Sun and Rain. Because, just like me, it's miserable with purpose.
@poyfuh
Don't stress yourself :) If it's easier for you, you can also check out what other games I like. I have a list for that too.

'out of left field' is putting it lightly lol but that makes it a really intriguing rec, thank you! i've never got into a yakuza game but i have a bunch of friends who are and i think it would be really funny if i told them the first one i played was the zombie shooting one that i didn't know existed until today. i'll have to see if i can emulate it though since i never owned a ps3
Bungie’s Destiny or Rain World, ur choice.
Tho tbf I have a new favourite game every week.
