i love how all of these have more progressively-absurd games at the end of the list
MGSV maybe? Covers the post 9/11 American psychosis and endless war on terror but in an anachronistic 80's nostalgia setting which feels very fitting. Combined with the post-truth nature of its story (especially the Big Boss reveal) and the fact that all of the warring factions (XOF, Cipher, Diamond Dogs, the US, the Soviets) are all part of this incomprehensible mess of interests and proxies that you can't untangle.
The Talos Principle belongs in this list.
