RE: A Glossary Of Terms: Genres

A quick reply to _YALPS list https://www.backloggd.com/u/_YALP/list/a-glossary-of-terms-genres/

Had to get it done before I lost motivation because I too care about genres and classification.
Class Horror "Genre" is actually just Survival Adventure

I'm bad at writing so this is just my tidbit to apologize for it's layout and lack of checking.

Also Ape Escape freebie
Understanding that two games have similar functionality can ease the stress of deciding on the next choice.
and how we can continue to push
and lay to rest silly arguments
About messy bonds
And just allow systems to explore
and still let you explore out of your comfort zone
any iterration of dragon quest?
and try new spins
Breaking down genres by mechanics provides a much easier understanding of recommendations
It's very difficult to recommend stuff nowadays because of fuzzy genres and while style works in theory it's very subjective.
And adding more detail like perspective styles and systems
It can be used to explore what we have explored
We can look things in more ways
Why would it make sense for me to recommend Kingdom Hearts to Someone who likes
and see how far areas are pushed
Can further pinpoint exactly what you've been looking for
between two groups
What people seems to misunderstand is the classification isn't "just a box"
Some argue that they always end up with you killing a god
and what we can explore next
We can decouple threads
Some argue that a JRPG has linear story telling
This problem stems from vague and fuzzy genres which stem from, as mentioned company terminology. Recommending any of the following games because I enjoy silent hill
to find out how they fit
and when a classification is created. It doesn't need to be the only one
Feels like a huge leap because they all have horror vibes
Even the most pivotal genres with clear definitions
and just enjoy data for what it is
The boundaries of the mechanics
Can bring light to oddities
It's very difficult to recommend stuff nowadays because of fuzzy genres and while style works in theory it's very subjective. The RPG genre is the prime example, splitting that further into JRPG and WRPG. A hotly debated topic of what a JRPG even is. Is Undertale a JRPG? Why?
and when something doesn't fit these premises, then we can just make new boxes.
Some argue that it has a certain style

I can appreciate the idea that genre isnt just a description and that it can also be something that reacts and benefits from the ideas of the things its assigned to, thats a good point overall.

I put my several paragraphs response into screenshots to help keep the footprint small in the notification tab.
