I liked how both the player and the characters had really high expectations for Elysium, and when we finally reach this place, the only thing we see is a ruined city buried in sand.

After spending such a long time in this nightmare and dealing with the Split Head, you finally make it back to the "Normal" world. I was so relieved.
You reappear in the boilroom, you notice that you're aren't surrounded by wire fences & rust anymore, and the color palette went back to normal.
As you make your way through the school's exit, you realize all the monsters have disappeared, and it's almost completely silent, with the exception of the Church's bell that you hear ringing in the distance.
This moment really stuck with me.

I was already broken after witnessing 2B's death at the very beginning of route C, but this was really the final nail in the coffin.
