Problematic Games

look, if i was in charge of these, id probably change some things around

placeholder for the whole series. in which kirby commits mass genocide, literally boils the inhabitants of dream land alive. see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGkUBmBm8OY
going into people's houses and breaking their pots is definitely not ok
the first survival horror game. whatever kind of entity pac-man is, i hope he was able to free himself from his endless torture prison that we got many hours of entertainment from as a species
Never fucking mind. We have learned nothing as a species
not played this yet. looks colonialist
No, body possession without consent is not ok mario
placeholder for the entire series. reimu bullies youkai for looking at her funny
placeholder for whole series. teaches kids to enslave animals and make them fight each other instead of fetching pails of water. notably black/white antagonise a team who think that pokemon should be treated better
not healthy. tell kids to fetch a pail of water instead
Whole series. The Puyo are clearly alive and have emotions but everyone in these games kills them off (using the cutesied verb of "pop" to downplay what's actually happening) for shits and giggles
absolutely disgusting. sickeningly indulgent game
entire series is a metaphor for capitalism and how it's cool. bowser revolution is communism and is vilified by the game
in which 10 year olds are made to perform an abortion to save the world
lets you play a song about how it's ok to leave a dog in a hot car
makes you listen to green day
completely unreasonable working conditions
advocates climate change because it'd make for fun platforming challenges
imagine just chilling when your house gets rolled up because a shitty dad fucked up and is forcing his son to labour for him
it is probably inhumane to trap monkeys into balls and make them run for our amusement. doubly so when one of the monkeys is a baby
cannibalism is not ok no matter how cool it looks
encourages kids to commit medical malpractice
what about those of us with little brains
I just think it's a bit unfair to put 14 year old girls in this situation
statistically one of these is probably a bit racist
the vandalism is cool but apparently it was inspired by fight club and that movie sucks
taught me to gamble as a kid because i wanted the tf2 stuff
"Blue Birds" is military propaganda
ok come on not all of them are like that :/ #NotAllHumans
can't you just like, talk it out with your dad. this is pretty extreme
you are literally starving the cats and sending their food off to die in outer space
games in which you defend murderers and pin the crime on people who just happened to be there
teaches kids to follow their dreams
i just get the impression that these people arent very nice
we have speed limits for a reason. encourages really reckless driving
teaches you it is cool to be a dick as long as u have awesome lightning powers
lets you beat up random people. especially bad in that the player is encouraged to hit ralph because he says funny things. hes 8
no, the yakuza is still not cool even if you play as a guy who does not behave like one
Hall of Meat teaches people that self-harm is cool and funny
please install like a proper crossing or something. this is just sad to watch
i just dont think it's cool to encourage going to war for no reason even if it's accurate to real life
someone coulda just told him he had the meatovision goggles on the whole time and this whole thing wouldve been avoided. not a very funny prank by the mc's friends
assumes you have some
a village is allowed to live so long as they sacrifice a 15 year old girl every 200 years. i dont really condone this practice so
self-explanatory but also, the dog is a piece of shit
definitely fooled some kid somewhere into thinking the EBA would actually show up in their hour of need
most of these pokemon didnt ask to have their picture taken. who knows what that sick fuck oak does after rating them all so meticulously
has definitely radicalised someone against snails
not played it. cover and title leads me to believe this is some sort of imperialist war game
this game has some weird beef with owls and im not about that
i thought this series was just a fun/cosy chill-out type thing but this review has made me wary https://www.backloggd.com/u/Yalighieri/review/50172/
is going to fool future historians into thinking the 2020 olympic games actually took place in 2020. no-one here is social distancing or anything either. at least make them wear masks on the cover
unhinged game. in addition to what these two said, it locks behind some of its best content behind a so-called "genocide route" (kingbancho/Hattori)
made shooting yourself in the head cool (SoniqueBaianor)
implied voyeurism at the start (chandler)
establishes the protagonist as a role model for children (chandler)
called me fat when i was a kid and offered to let me do YOGA. long story short im still fat (kingbancho)
encourages lane passing without a turn signal (JaxMagnetic)
he needs to slow down fr. he's almost definitely run over one of the animals he saved (GutterTrash)

SSX

encourages you to punch your competitors to gain full turbo (DustyVita)
encourages vehicular manslaughter (Pikadourei)
(rubenmg)
not played, looks like copaganda (Hot_Anarcocoa)
glorifies the heterosexual lifestyle (Hot_Anarcocoa)
you work for a massive corporation who cut down entire forests, sell guns to everyone, sell kids dangerous protopets, make gladiator arena fights and sell exploding toasters (Santieur52)
NO trypophobia warning (PansyDragoonSaga)
excludes south sudan from the credits (vatgas)
the pinnacle of schadenfreude. we've reduced the last throes of the now-extinct dinosaurs down to some web browser game available at the mild inconvenience of the internet being down. arguably the worst entry on this list, it represents the darkest humanity has to offer. we mock the t-rex for not being able to join its airborne brethren, as we force it to manoeuvre around each and every one of them. we revel in its powerless and futile struggle to overcome its pathetic fate of running headfirst into a cactus. we do all this while absent-minded of the dino's actual feelings - all that concerns us is when the internet is going to be back up. videogames have a long way to go...

undertale seems pretty emotionally manipulative and sus imo...

drakengard one made me choke on my drink

yeah, undertale messes with your save file without the player's consent. That's inexcusable.

wii fit told children they were fat which is inexcusable bullying on nintendos part

Persona 3 incentivizes shooting yourself in the head to activate your Persona which is not cool :C

outrun encourages lane passing without turn signals

sonic the hedgehog goes too fast. someone oughta tell that man he might hit something or (god forbid) someone!
DOOM encourages mass genocide against an entire race.

zelda 2 begins with implied voyeurism
conker's pocket tales establishes the protagonist as a role model for children

also this is the best list on the site

In Chrome Dino you lead the last dinosaur to its unavoidable extinction against a cactus. The birds are symbolic because they're our modern dinosaurs.

i was gonna fight you on jet set radio but your reasoning is good

thanks for the suggestions + reception! added some of these + some more i could think of and i agree, chrome dino is especially interesting

SSX encourages you to punch your competitors because it gives you full turbo. I was so conditioned into doing it that when I played SSX On Tour's free ride I was throwing hands left and right despite all the npc's just being normal people on a leisurely ride down the mountain.

Problem attic, easiest pick ever.

I haven't actually played Lego City Undercover yet but it seems like copaganda.
It Takes Two glorifies the heterosexual lifestyle.

It was a joke! But undoubtedly it's gained more fame, in one way or another...

If I have to be sincere, I thought this was another list when I wrote the last post. Specifically, Cold Comfort's 'Games that people have liked more with time' list, because I think our misunderstood Chrome Dino fits there too.

Nevertheless, I bring you another choice for your list ONLY: NES's Metal Storm. Just look at the plot:

"In the year 2501, mankind has colonized the solar system, but all is not well. On a defense outpost on Pluto, a robot-controlled laser gun built to protect Earth from alien invaders has begun to malfunction. It has turned against the human race, and begun destroying the solar system."
So it all begins with a work negligence followed by a disobedience of one of Asimov's laws. Really problematic.

@Lot0
The best entry on this list being an accident meant for another list is honestly gold lmao

@Hot_Anarcocoa hahahah, thx!!

i played Lego City, and i can assure it's not copaganda, is just "haha cops eats donuts" with typical Lego silliness and no second meaning or anything like that

Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, you work for a massive corporation who cut down entire forests, sell guns to everyone, sell kids dangerous protopets, makes gladiator arena fights and sells exploding toasters

@Santieur52 I consider anything that portrays cops as the good guys (including things that portray "bad apples" but accept the institution as a whole) to be copaganda, but that might be getting a little too serious for this comments section.
Donut County gives players NO trypophobia warning

Marvel vs Capcom. Showing such classic characters as Marvel™️'s finest engage in common street brawls with the ruffians of Capcom is obscene.
This is gold.

And with 69 games.

in tetris you put all of the blocks in a line and slowly kill them one by one
