jrpg tier list
Ranking every jrpg I've ever played, the last one I still consider good being Mother 1 (with maybe an exception for fe fates conquest since the map design is so good, even if the story is ass cheeks like the rest of the other fates games are). Some lower games that actually play well are mainly low for their narrative or writing, since I take those heavily into account when ranking games in this genre. A lack of a story doesn't automatically make a game bad, nor does an emphasis on story make a game good. This is all completely subjective and my personal opinion.

I prefer the super famicom original, personally. I feel it has more charm. The remake is still fantastic but I feel it makes things...too polished? If that makes any sense.

Honestly a massive chore like megami tensei 2 but the hardware leap, zio and stun bullet spam, and the fact that the endgame is a cakewalk make it bearable enough. Carried by its music, atmosphere and story.

Used to absolutely despise this, but looking beyond its flaws has revealed signs of a fantastic game, hoping for a definitive edition at some point, but in its current state this is probably the cut off point between the good and bad of this list.
