JRPG's Ranked

Stolen from a couple people I follow. Some of the placement was kinda tricky, especially that whole group of Pokemon, so to make it easier to see where I stand on these games..I put my score for each one in the notes.

Why did you just flip my list upside down
true

27 days ago

NIER clears :)
@woodoo true!

26 days ago

what a great list, truly nothing to criticize.
i totally understand why you put KH3 where you did, but a small part of me dies every time i see that game as low as it is on any ranking

don't you think its a little cheap to put xenoblade chronicals on there 3 times?
@teshena ty ty, I don't think so personally considering I feel pretty different about each version

26 days ago

thats fair, but to outsiders it looks like you liked the game so much you put every port on the list
but i understand

Idk if i'd call Soulsborne games "JRPGs". I mean, yeah, they're role-playing games form Japan, but i don't think most people are gonna directly compare Bloodborne to Xenoblade Chronicles or Fire Emblem. By that reasoning, all Zelda games are RPGs too
@djyunghoxha I mean souls games have leveling ups, different stats you can put towards your character and different weapons you can equip that also alter stats. Most Zelda games don't have all that so idk if they would be comparable, I'd definitely consider souls games JRPG's even if they are different from the norm lol

>P5 top 3
@Fuiza problem?

14 hrs ago

sticker star isn't a JRPG? nor does it even try to put on an artifice of JRPG
@averypaledog yes it is? What?
@averypaledog Made in Japan and has Roleplaying elements! I think that is certainly a Japanese Role Playing Game to me, haha!
Seeing NieR top Automata is very refreshing!

As someone that only played xenoblade on the 3DS, what are the main differences between the three version that warrant such different scores?
@sansuave 3D has some extra stuff like a model viewer and music player compared to the original, not to mention it's just downgraded visually from the original slightly. DE adds a bunch of qol as well as changing the artstyle which is my biggest issue with it since I prefer the originals artstyle a lot more
@ResidentAtelier ty ty, i love both but the original nier has a better ost i think and easily a better cast so it edges it out for me

your opinions are bad
i know mr alex
@NOWITSREYNTIME17 @BlueBackLoggd what about it has "roleplaying elements" or otherwise would make it a JRPG? turn-based combat doesn't inherently make a game a JRPG, and if it did, we'd be calling Yugioh Duel Links and Mega Man Battle Network JRPGs. i'm not trying to be a pedant about this, it's fine if you dislike the game, but i feel most of people's negative opinion of sticker star stems from trying to force it into the "why isn't this more of a JRPG like TTYD and 64" box when it's pretty flagrantly not that.

if anything, i'd consider sticker star more of a collectathon/card game fusion. but that's just imo. apologies if i'm harping on either of you.
@averypaledog turn based combat, enemies have numbered hp that pop up when you attack them, there are stat ups in the overworld. It's a horrible jrpg but it is definitely a jrpg lol. dont know why youre worked up over something most people would agree to be true. also there's many reasons to dislike this game besides not liking it because its not like the first 3 games.

@NOWITSREYNTIME17 at the end of the day it's not a huge deal, i just don't think most people would call sticker star a JRPG and, if anything, most peoples' chief problem with the game is that it wasn't a JRPG. but that's just imo.

sorry for the double comment, but i'm curious: if you've played super paper mario, would you consider that a JRPG? it has 2/3 of those qualifiers, if not more that could potentially come up (i.e. more hands on story).
I'd argue they would (I had people reply to me cuz they saw your comment and they agreed it is) but its not that big of a deal. Only thing that matters is its ass :walterhoy:
