Things I don't love in games I do love

Just took my top 100 favorite games list and used that as a baseline. That list is already not accurate anymore, but made making this list easier.

The big twist of this game is spelled out in the game itself and is also the most obvious and predictable twist for anyone who knows anything about Batman. I don't think it ruins the story at all, it still makes for a good story, but it did ruin all impact.

Wish the DLC was more substantial.
Strangely harder to think of something I don't like in this game compared to Knight, a game I like a little more.

Mm, I guess I don't like most of the bosses. Besides Mister Freeze, most of them I just wanna get over with.
I don't think the art is bad, but going from Ayami Kojima's beautiful series-defining art to GameStop pre-owned case art kind of sucks. In my opinion, it's mostly just that these character designs were not made with this artstyle in mind, the same artstyle is much better in Portrait of Ruin where the characters were made with this style in mind.

Magic Seals are a little annoying, I don't care about it nearly as much as others seem to, though.
The Floating Garden is really annoying, I don't think I'll ever get used to them.
The mobile approach really hurts Picross in my opinion. I don't mind spending $25ish on this game because it's the best Picross game imo with a lot of content, but I would rather it be presented as a $25 game than what it actually does. Probably impossible to enjoy nowadays with the eShop being down now.
This is my fault for getting it, but wow is the Switch version bad. I still played, 100%ed, and loved this game despite the horrible port, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
This is such a cop-out answer, but the cult of personality around this game is annoying.

I really can't think of a notable problem I have with this game, though... I guess I find the beginning pretty boring, but it picks up after the first gym. Idk.
I don't like a lot of the long sidequests that Zelda games have, and this one has several. The Picto Box quest, the Korok trees sidequest, the trading sequence. The Eye Reef islands are kinda annoying to do as well.

I don't dislike this game's dungeons, but it is one of the weaker sets of Zelda dungeons imo.
I used to like the Pachinko level as a kid and didn't really get the hate. I do now, though. Did they forget to test it?

I personally like collecting all the blue coins, but I'm still gonna knock them because people really hate this game and the blue coins seem to be a huge reason why.
I think Goron City is very badly designed, I still get confused sometimes despite probably having hundreds of hours dumped into Ocarina of Time.

Also, I'm sorry, but I'm still not a fan of the Water Temple. It's had a complete 180 in terms of popular perception, but it still confuses me and I end up missing a key or two and ugh. 3D water dungeons tend to be my least favorite.
A lot of Pikmin fans seem to refute this, but this game is easy as hell imo. Oatchi trivializes any difficulty. Even without Oatchi, I think this game is the easiest Pikmin game. Maybe I'm just cracked?

It also needs, like, three times as many Dandori challenges. The Dandori challenges and Pikmin 3 missions genuinely might be the most fun I've had in a game.
nothing this game is perfect !
For so many years, I didn't believe this game was that slow, I thought people were overreacting. In some ways, I do still think that (I definitely don't think it makes the game bad). But then I replayed Pokemon White after around a decade without it, and then when I came back to Platinum, I finally got it. Yeesh, this game is slow.

HMs has its defenders, but I think this game just goes too far with it. I can handle needing a few, but there are times where you'll need multiple HM users just to get through an area, that's rubbish.
Wish this game ran better. Not even because it bothers me, but it seems to be the major hang-up people have on it. Idk, running poorly rarely bothers me much, this isn't an exception, although they should absolutely do better.

The cities in this game are awful. They're dull, have nothing to do, full of buildings you can't enter, no landmarks besides the school and gyms, and all the businesses are just menus instead of actual buildings.
I would be so happy to never have to play that baseball minigame again.
I'll have to come back to this one, I can't think of anything.
This is a problem (albeit minor) with all Uncharted games, but I don't care for collecting the treasures, and in fact have never collected them all in any game. They give no fun dialogue, they don't have descriptions, they aren't even much to look at, the only thing they unlock are trophies, and they aren't even fun to search for. They should have some kind of fun exploration or puzzle solving to get them, but the vast majority of the time, they don't.
The enemy choices in later dungeons are actually so obnoxious and always stops me from finishing the game. I can play four-fifths of this game, but that last fifth, I just don't want to deal with. Up until that point, though, I adore this game.
I don't like Big's story. It stopped me from beating the game for many years, and I don't even really think it's a good fishing game (although I don't have a large pool of samples, pun intended).
Can't think of anything major at the moment.
The bosses are ASS and the last zone is ASS
Lumiose City is a mess. It has so many places and so few of them are of note, and the ones that are worth it are impossible to remember the location of.

Inverse battles should have been the fun gimmick battle type, not Sky Battles which are really limiting.
The DexNav is such a deep and interesting item that they do not explain well whatsoever, and online explanations are also iffy.

Evil team bases suck.
Winged Pikmin are so broken lol.
The bunny star is bad.

Also gonna shoutout the controls. I have zero problem with how this game controls and, in fact, like it more than the original, but so many people hate this game because of the controls so...
All of them problems I have with Sun/Moon were kept, and I have a LOT of problems with Sun/Moon. With this game specifically, though, I don't like the forced Mantine surfing part (especially the tutorial), and a lot of characters are actually worse here.
I think the collectibles are more annoying to get in this game than the other 2D Metroid games. I resorted to a guide on more occasions than other games, to be honest.
The wolf segments around the first three dungeons I just don't really like. I don't like Lakebed temple.
The sky traveling really does suck, and the pumpkin shooting minigame alone has made me not 100% this game lol.

I hate sliding puzzles, so Sky Keep is a nightmare for me.
There is nothing wrong with this game. If you disagree, I will find you.
Most of the collectibles are not fun to collect. I dreaded anytime I saw there was an Inari Shrine nearby. I don't find haiku interesting, so I was just kind of waiting for those to be over each time. There needed to be more hot springs.

The Water Stance is honestly kind of overpowered, I felt little reason to use a different stance the majority of the time because the strong attack combo is so effective on pretty much all enemies.
I kind of dread whenever I have to use one of the powerups with the exception of Bee and Spring (yes, I actually quite like Spring Mario). Comets felt like a lot of filler mostly.
why is laura bailey nadine
Can't think of anything rn
This is my fault, but I've used so many Kanto Pokemon (particularly ones that are available in the early game) that I have a hard time making a fun team for this game.

Not making pre- and post-evolutions from Johto available is SO STUPID!!
I'm not sure I'll ever find a major thing to complain about with this game. I guess I could do without the first twenty or so minutes nowadays, but that's just cause I've played it a lot.
Memory of this game is kind of hazy honestly, I don't have anything to say.
Not this game's fault, but the combat and stealth is so much less satisfying to go back to after playing the sequels/prequel so much.
I barely remember it, but the part where the bug enemies come out if you touch sand was annoying. Honestly, it's been a while, so maybe that's not even in this game lol.
It's been a second, but iirc there are a few parts where you kind of go tower defense mode, and those parts always stress me out.
Strange how the farther I get from my favorite games, the harder it is to think of a big problem I have.
The 100% requirements are inane, which is a shame because I would love to 100% this game.

I rarely use Charlotte because I have so much fun using Jonathan's standard weapons, that I just don't feel a need to use her.
There's so many boxes to check in this game and I get so obsessed trying to check those boxes that I make no real progress and it stopped me from finishing this game. Idk if I'll ever finish it.
Graphics are worse than the original and Devilish Mode is so bad. The new side content and portability carries it.
The bosses stink and stress me out.
DS version

It's too short. Like, it should be twice as long.
Classic mode is awesome, but otherwise the singleplayer content is so lacking.
The swamp area is so bad. Labyrinthian, with little of substance, very annoying respawning enemies... I can't imagine playing it in the Game Boy Color version.

I think the constant sword-switching got annoying later on.
This game is so good that it made me angry there's nothing else like it. TAKE ME BACK
I am the anti-64DS hater cause I actually am not a fan of this game's controls. It took me a second playthrough to finally "get" it and now I'm fine with the controls, but I prefer the DS version's controls.
The Boobeam boss is such a bad beginner's trap, and even though I've played this game dozens of times, I still sometimes forget how to do it.
I don't think this game's story or characters are nearly as good as the first game's. I also hate the forced PokeStar Studios tutorial.
SPOILERS

It's a shame that the first major choice in the game, saving Carley or Doug, is pretty much pointless. In episode 2, they become noncharacters anyway, and in episode 3 they're killed off because of Lily's paranoia.
The layout of the building was so confusing to me when I played this game, I remember fumbling around a lot. However, I have read that if you merely follow the signs in-game (much like a real hospital), you'll end up where you need to just fine, despite the confusing layout, so maybe this won't be an issue in a replay.
This is mainly a problem with replays, but I hate how there's so little going on when traveling. Characters will chat and tell stories - frankly, one of my favorite parts of this game the first time around - but I've heard all the stories before, so I'm basically just going from point A to point B with nothing interesting happening. Fast travel through the world tree is even worse cause you don't even need to move at all, you can just stand still until the door pops up, they give you nothing to do.

I know why this is done, but I hate in this game (and pretty much all the big Sony games) put an obstacle in front of you, and you just press a button and watch a cutscene where nothing happens until you pass through. For example, a boulder might be in a narrow path, so Kratos will hold it up, let Atreus through, then drop it. I know this is done for loading, but the time really adds up, I'd rather just have a loading screen I think. Why wouldn't Kratos just throw the boulder out of the way? He's more than strong enough.
It's been a long time since I've played this one, but iirc, I found very little reason to not just use the charge attack that lets you float after I got it. Little reason to switch off what I know.
It's peak.
I have so many complaints about S/M that it'd be better off in a full review. For now, I'll say that I find traversing Alola so boring.
Random items isn't bad, but making that the only way to get items is. No shops? Or a reward for something? Strange.

Too many button mashing and luck minigames.
I like the idea of character-specific items, but man are they unbalanced. Toad and Toadette gets to have a mushroom for three turns, but Wario and Waluigi's just... steals a few coins. You can steal up to ten coins from each player, but you can also only end up stealing one. Even at its best, I'll take the mushrooms.
I have this problem with the first three Paper Mario games, but I don't like how sluggish it is to travel the world. Super is the least-bad offender of this because of the Pixls, Carrie and Dashell, but it still takes forever to get from one place to another. This is even worse when you want to do 100% because you are constantly going from the hub to the levels to get cooking ingredients or capture enemies for cards. It's so tedious.
I more or less have this problem with all 2D Metroids, but Super had the worst of it: I don't really like how much you have to just poke around to find stuff. There are so many collectibles tucked behind some specific square you need to bomb or shoot, and it's just kind of annoying. I'm basically morph balling at every wall and floor if the map has a dot saying there's a collectible. Maybe I'm missing something?
I love this game but it really gives me anxiety sometimes, the most anxiety I've felt from a game, even after playing it a ton.
i know they deconfirmed shantae being 16, but making these revealing characters be of nebulous age doesnt sit right with me. just say they're in their 20s it's not hard
Making me realize Roger Craig Smith is pretty much the best Batman post-Conroy (rest in peace) and never using him again is poop.
Need to replay this one to say anything.
No notes
This was in peak NES nostalgia time, I'm pretty sure, but I still wish they used other Nintendo games for 9-volt's microgames besides NES ones. This was the third WarioWare game in a row to only use them.
The boat travel suuuuuucks.
Sometimes there is just one speck on one object somewhere that I can never see no matter how hard I look at any angle and pressing the dirt highlighting button. I think some objects should just be a little more lenient on how much you have to clean it.
why did they completely remove the wii u's battle mode. just make it a separate mode
Stealth was so much better than its predecessor and sequel that it made me retroactively like those games much less.
Switch version is bad (should've just gotten the PS5 version) and the aesthetics are so droll.
This is the best game ever made.
Left hand unfriendly, I cannot fully enjoy this game.
Click Clock Wood is such a disappointing final area after Rusty Bucket Bay.
Been too long since I've played. I didn't get a whole lot out of the power ups, iirc
The rhythm game is so bad. I'm not even a rhythm game fan, and I know that one's bad.
Planet Wisp is honestly not good, which is especially bad because it's the last level.
It gets docked points for reminding me of my beloved deceased Miiverse.
It's been forever, but I think I remember the end game just going through the motions in terms of battles. Besides bosses, there was little challenge at the end. Again, it's been a long time, maybe I'm remembering wrong.
All the Mario & Luigi games have this issue, but the beginning is so slow and tutorial-heavy that it's really hard to go back to, and by the time I'm out of it, I need a break and then I might not come back lol.
I think this game has the best characters in this trilogy, but I still think they're pretty damn lacking. I think if it took three games to give your main protagonist (who is supposedly the most popular character in video games??) any kind of personal conflict or personality besides "survival" then that's kinda bad.
I can't think of something major. Mm... can't really think of much minor, either, lol. I guess most of the powerups are pretty negligible; I only use anything besides Tanooki if I'm out of leaves.
This is pretty well known, but man, stairs really do suck in this game.

The heavy knockback can also be a little annoying, but I mostly like playing around it and it wouldn't be Castlevania without it.
I don't really care about Raiden being playable in this game, but reducing Black Lightning to just a skin for him is dirty work.

Black Lightning, John Stewart, and Vixen are all premier skins and that just feels... weird.

Some of the faces in this game are just really funny looking. When Blue Beetle's mask isn't covering his face, he looks like Jay Jay the Jet Plane.
I wish all the characters were dramatically different from Sonic. I love playing as Amy in this game for that reason, but Tails is just Sonic who can fly and Knuckles is just Sonic who can glide and climb walls. I'm pretty sure the true ending of this game is locked to Sonic only so might as well go wild with the characters, right?
I haven't played this game in, like, eight years, I can't say anything.
Reusing the same level styles again isn't a dealbreaker for me, but it wouldn't have killed them to try different ones, yeah?
Needed more Spyborg
No major complaints. Honestly, I could probably move this game higher up.
I'm sure they just didn't have enough time to do much more, but the boards being floating girders with random set pieces is kind of weak. The Boo board probably would have been pretty cool if they went all out with the theme.
The mechanics are poorly explained, and only really explained at all in those ? bubbles. That wouldn't be a big deal if this were another boost formula game, but this is vastly different from any Sonic game before and after. I attribute this for being a large reason why people hate this game (they're wrong).
Makes me want MORE but there's not MORE. It's still the only PS5 game.
People hate the six-item storage, but honestly I kind of wish it was five or even four items at a time cause I felt like I was pretty stacked most of the time and usually had an item I never used as a "just in case" measure (I never used the stun stick thing).

Needing to do a replay for the true ending is stinky.

I didn't really pick up on this when I played it, but I've heard people say this is an anti-communism game which I don't really like.
This applies to the whole trilogy (and probably later games if I played them), but I can't tell you how many times I presented a piece of evidence that feels like it was perfect for the situation, but it was wrong. Usually I would have to present something else first, and then the original thing I wanted to show would be important.

Also, there's way too many creepy men in this series. And I don't just mean the murderers.

cute list ^_^ also there are people who like the oot water dungeon now???????? Freaks....

@moschidae It's become a pretty popular opinion that the Water Temple is the most well-designed one. Idk, I'm not a game designer, but I personally think that if so many people don't like it and find it confusing, then there's something wrong.

I think Water Temple suffers most on the N64 where taking the boots on and off required going in and out of the menu at all times. The constant interruptions are more annoying then the layout itself, though I remember it taking a while to understand the design of the dungeon my first playthrough on OG hardware.
Also the tutorials are long and drawn out in M&L: BIS, but I would take those any day over that train boss you fight as Giant Bowser.

@AlphaOne2 Yeah, it's better on 3DS (I like the 3DS version more in general), but that's also more of a whole game issue, I have issues with the actual temple.

The giant Bowser fights are fine in the original game. But the 3DS remake doesn't have a left handed mode so it's quite uncomfortable for me.
