1-Year Backlog
Starting in December of 2022, I challenged myself to beat 75 games from my backlog. I gave myself until the end of 2023 to do so. Games that are finished have notes on them and are ranked best to worst. I tried to make this list as diverse across series as possible, aside from a few exceptions of major series I wanted to finish out.
75 Games
5/10: I was honestly disappointed in this. It was cute, but neither half of the gameplay worked for me.
6/10: Don't have much to say here. The story was alright overall, and so was the gameplay. I think it generally succeeds in everything it tries, but it never excels.
6/10: I'm not the biggest fan of the major Sony titles. This one was pretty good! However, it's definitely bloated, and many of the foundational problems from the previous game still exist.
6/10: I played this on heroic and it really took a toll on my experience. I'll have to replay this someday to get a better grasp of it.
9/10: Finally, a Halo game with all killer, no filler. Incredible campaign overall.
7/10: Pretty mid tbh lol
8/10: The opening and final segments are absolute killer. Real 9/10 material, but I just didn't like the main portion of the game. I do respect it though.
9/10: It's just peak Metal Gear to be honest.
5/10: This game is a mess. I'm glad I played it, because I really enjoyed the series. I just can't stop wondering about what could've been.
9/10: The inverse of something like Doom Eternal or Ultrakill in approach. It's an incredibly fun game with a high skill ceiling.
8/10: An incredibly tight action game all around. The combat and presentation are both excellent. However, the mechanics around doing repeat runs are a little disappointing.
8/10: Great atmosphere, great puzzles, disappointing combat, and a surprisingly meaty length. I'll probably be replaying this for Halloween sometime in the next few years.
6/10: I really was expecting to not enjoy this. It was ok!
10/10: What a special little game. I'll return to this someday to do the secret puzzles. I just found the final one of the main game to be such an impactful stopping point. Loved it.
8/10: Real good time. Probably too long for its own good, but I'll have to play the other games to really tell.
