@Sanguine Haha yeah. I wanted to do the 69 Nice meme. I went on a Gamer list mania and made a bunch of random lists that captured things I wanted to understand about my taste. I just replayed Undertale recently, it's certainly up there. Gotta love Bayo and DMC. I was really happy with how DMC5 turned out and kinda disappointed with Bayo 3. Love Bayo 2 so much though.
Totally, 999 is one of the visual novel GOATs. I have this ongoing meme debate with my friend about 999 vs VLR. It's weird how different of a vibe they gave off despite being in the same series.
Super Mario Galaxy is so good! I replayed it again just a few weeks ago on stream. I recently binged through Super Mario 64, Sunshine, and then Galaxy and I still feel very strongly about Galaxy being the best Mario game. I hope you have fun with Galaxy! It's one of those games I wish I could play for first time again lol. I always felt that it made very good game feel, level design, and that creative spark.
Mass Effect 2 was a blast back when I played it. I've been meaning to play through the whole trilogy again on the remastered version, but I've yet to take the time to get back to it. It was the first Western RPG I could really get into back in the day. I have this weird linear mindset that makes it hard for me to appreciate Western RPGs as easily as I can with JRPGs. Mass Effect has such an iconic cast and I really enjoyed all the world building that the games had. Good stuff!
Thanks! This list has always been an iterative process where I try to distinguish between games that I have hard nostalgia for versus games that are just that good. It's like an endless struggle for me haha. Like some games I remember fondly, but since I haven't played them for such a long time, I wonder if it's just fond memories that put them there or if they are really just that good. That's part of why I've been replaying some of these games like killer7, Super Mario Galaxy, and Resident Evil 4, these are games that still impress me to this day.
Oh wow, you're in for a treat. Those are some great titles. I remember playing the original Dark Souls back in the day and I got stuck because I went to the cemetery and kept dying to skeletons haha. Does that mean you will also play Bloodborne!? That one is my personal favorite, but I certainly do appreciate the Souls games. (Especially Dark Souls 1's DLC) The Witcher is a good time. As a Mass Effect fan, I felt right at home with the Witcher 3's cinematics and dialogue system so I think you'd like that part at least haha.

Hehe, no problem bud. Gotta say I thought 999 and VLR are both pretty much perfect games in there own right. Thats why in my list I put the collection together because there both amazing visual novels as both shocked me to my core and I loved both of them. Though I can completely see why 999 edges out for you since VLR is a bit different in a few ways.
Yeah I cant wait for Galaxy, just finished Sunshine and I'll probably be moving onto Galaxy either today or some time this weekend and I am soooo hyped for it. And right after im gonna play Galaxy 2 as well.
The entire Mass effect series is the GOAT for me. I just love how you can connect your playthroughs through all the games and it determines how you handle things or how things happen. Like even decisions from the very first mass effect can effect the end game. That and the cast of characters are so beloved throughout the game, even in there early form in the first one. This is why its one of my favourite games of all time for me because I have never seen a game do something like that before...its just a pity about 3's ending which kind of made the choices redundant. But even then, the premise of the idea is pretty dam fantastic.
And yeah, looking forward to playing through the Dark souls games and witcher games, there big titles im hyped for playing. The problem with Bloodborne (which yes, I absolutely god dam want to play) is that...I don't own a playstation, it is the only console I dont own which is a god dam bummer. Its not the end of the world buying one but still...im buying a console, just to play that game. This is why I have always hated it when Xbox or playstation have games just for there consoles, its so annoying (Nintendo are excluded for this because they make games solely for there consoles and always have which is fair game). But yeah, super looking forward to playing them.

@Sanguine Ah I see, yeah, both games are pretty surprising and memorable.
For me, I prefer the tone and writing of 999 over VLR. I also didn't enjoy VLR's cast as much, but I'm glad you can enjoy both games haha.
Nice! I'm curious to see what your opinion is of Galaxy. Do you also play on playing Odyssey soon too?
Yeah, it's surprising to me that there aren't more games that do what the Mass Effect series does. Just linking save files shouldn't be too difficult. I remember Mass Effect 3's ending controversy very well. I spent a bunch of time watching videos on the Indoctrination theory and I was super into that idea back in the day haha
Damn, that's been the long running blocker for most people whenever I ask them about Bloodborne. I wish they'd just release it on Steam or something haha. Yeah the console exclusives for non-Nintendo consoles are getting fewer and fewer, especially with all those Steam/Epic Games Store releases of Playstation games. I have a PS5 and I don't actually use it that much haha.

Hell yeah im playing Odyssey, got the game I just havent got round to playing it yet. Looking forward to that little beaut.
And yeah I saw that video two and...I mean, there is a lot of evidence to suggest they just ran out of time with the ending which is a shame. Like literally one of the scrapped concepts due to time was a boss fight with a reaper like Illusive man which would have been a wayyy better proper final boss then that Kai Lang bastard. But with what we have right now...that theory does fit as good as we can with what we had...and it is kind of fascinating.
Yeahhh that is the main worry with getting a PS5, I might not even use it after I'm done with the exclusives which would be a waste of half a grand. Also they said that the new remaster of KotoR is going to be a playstation exclusive which just pissed me off even more lmao. So if I dont get it for bloodborne, im definitely getting one to play that. To be fair, there are a lot of playstation exclusive games like the racket and clank game and a few others, so when they do come out on playstation, I'll be ready to just buy the game. Otherwise I'll be waiting like 10 years for them to come out on PC on steam lol.

@Sanguine Nice, I'm in a similar situation. I have the game, but I haven't gotten around to playing it either.
Yeah that is too bad. I actually forgot about Kai Lang until you mentioned him haha. Gotta love the indoctrination theory lolol
Hmmm PS5... Well there are a couple of cool PS4 exclusives you can get besides Bloodborne as well like Gravity Rush 2. Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart is on coming out on Steam very soon, so it seems like the Sony exclusivity stuff seems to be shorter and shorter. But even then, I don't think I like Sony exclusives that much anyway lol, but I do have a PS5. Mostly not my preference besides Bloodborne and Gravity Rush 2 probably. (I might be forgetting some though)

Yeah let me know if there are any other exclusives and I'll consider playing them when I eventually get a PS5. The first game I play though will either be Bloodborne or the new KotoR remaster and if I play one of them, the other game wont be far behind it. Ive always wanted to play Bloodborne, I love gothic, eldrich horror like games and Bloodborne is definitely one of the kings of that crop.
@Sanguine For sure, the only other exclusive I think highly of is Shadow of the Colossus. It got an exclusive remake on PS4 like 5 years ago. Admittedly, I like the original release more than the remake, but if you haven't had the chance to play through Shadow of the Colossus before, I highly recommend you play it. Easily one of my favorites.
Besides that, there are some "exclusives" like the re-releases of Valkyrie Profile, Siren, and Dark Cloud 2 that let you play some classics, which I like about PS4/5. I'll let you know if other exclusives that I run into.
Yeah, Bloodborne sounds up your alley for sure. It is certainly an impressive blend of gothic and Eldritch horror, while integrating it very well with the brutal and aggressive From Software gameplay.

Thanks bud, I look forward to playing Bloodborne eventually and as for Shadow of the colossus. I am aware of how good that game is, I might play it one day but the thing about it is, I kind of have already watched someone play through it eheh...it was ages ago when I was sure I was never ever going to get a play station console or I wouldnt be interested in playing the game. But maybe one day just for the experience of playing it, it has been a while since ive seen it.
@Sanguine Ah I see! Yeah I think playing it rather than watching it adds an additional level of appreciation to the experience despite knowing what happens in the story. Hopefully if you do play it, you'll have forgotten the solutions to each boss. Every time I replay it (I've beaten it like 3 or 4 times), I usually forget a good amount of the solutions and have to figure them out again haha
Yeah thats fair, its been at least a good 5 years I think since I watched it, maybe longer. So I doubt I will know many solutions. I'll put it on the list to play at some point hehe.
